Google and FCA started negotiations on cooperation in 2013. At the end of April 2016, it was reported that Fiat and Chrysler will have access to Google's experience in the field of Autonomous machine control systems, but so far this information has not been confirmed. Prior to that, Google had talks with General Motors, but the deal did not take place: the parties could not agree on who will own the data that electronics collects during the tests.

At the end of April this year, it became known that Google, Ford and Volvo, as well as taxi services Uber and Lyft have United in the Alliance Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets, which will promote cars with Autonomous control systems. Lobbyists will promote the idea of using unmanned vehicles among politicians, legislators, public groups, businessmen and local authorities.

Google has been working on autopilot for seven years. The company tests more than 50 cars, which in total have passed without the participation of the driver 2.4 million kilometers. Test Chrysler Pacifica will increase the fleet of drones "Google" more than twice. Now Google is testing drones on public roads in mountain view (California), Austin (Texas), Kirkland (Washington) and Phoenix (Arizona). Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Google announced collaboration in the development of a system of Autonomous driving. The first car, which will receive an experimental autopilot "Google", will be the minivan Chrysler Pacifica.
